This is so exciting! A few months ago, I wrote about Boutique Royer, an amazing place for unique gifts that I found shopping in Montréal. A lot of you have shown interest in them through my site and I am happy to annouce…they have just recently re-opened in their new location in Old Montréal! With edited and discerning stock, their new home is the perfect space to double as a gallery. The owner, the gracious and charming Louise Royer, showed me around, told me how thrilled she is in this new space and of course, I saw some really great gift ideas!
As you walk around the boutique, checking out the merchandise, you are simultaneously treated to an art exhibition. At the moment, Montréal artist Danielle Scheffer’s work is featured on the walls, some of whose paintings are très magnifique! The lovely artiste herself just happened to be there when I stopped by.
Of note: Montréal designer IZZA has the most amazing origami bags. Now they are also available in leather, as part of her limited “Le Trotteur” travel collection. You leave home with one bag and voilà! You arrive at your destination, unpack and transform your travel bag into an evening bag – incroyable ! Also from IZZA, leather origami bracelets that you can twist and shape into your own design, so much fun - they even come in a CD cover! Francine Bouchard is so creative I can’t wait to see what she’ll come up with next!
The selection of jewelry is vast and I loved the gold-plated silver chainlink necklaces by Teresa Gonzalez, as well as the pieces which can be worn from day to night by Antoinette.
Well-known Montréal designer Marie Saint Pierre offers chic evening pouches, the leather and felt bags from C Comme Ça are very original and leather and canvas pieces have clean yet chic lines . They still carry a beautiful assortment of blown glass objets, locally made silk scarves by Terre-Plein, and unique handmade knives by Grenier which have a lifetime guarantee. This really is the place to find a special gift - I know Ill be shopping for my clients here!
