Customer Service Attitude

I have to say that I was very disappointed to find the customer service lacking in some of the “well-known boutiques”.  This is meant for all the young girls who make no effort whatsoever when people walk into the boutiques you work in. You do not own these stores so stop acting like you do and show the owners who pay your salaries some respect for their livelihood. You know who you are! I always find it funny when I see glorified sales clerks at these high- end places acting snooty and carrying attitudes bigger than their own body weight!

There is one golden rule in the world of retail – never judge a book by its cover! You do not know what you think you know and the man or woman that you just ignored could have spent thousands in your bosses’ stores. If you’re only working there for a part-time job, maybe you don’t know any better, but if this is a career choice, pull up your socks and learn how it all works in the real world! Notice that your bosses are much more accommodating to their clientele and please – learn from them.

On the other hand, I must complement the girls who do understand what I have just gotten off my chest.

They made my shopping experience truly enjoyable. Specifically, Dorothée, the manager at Ça Va De Soi – c’était un plaisir! A lovely young woman – she understands the value of treating her clients with respect and understanding their needs.  In this economy, people who are spending $300 – $400 or more on an exquisite cashmere sweater want to have a pleasant shopping experience. They want to feel recognized and appreciated for their support of your boutique. Fait accompli – Merci.

Obviously, it goes without saying, Aline fom Yoga- à- Porter knows her stuff inside and out. She comes from the hospitality industry and clearly values human relationships. Apart from loving the store, I could have spent hours there talking to her (and of course- shopping!)

Also worth mentioning – at Toto n Dot, Devorah is great! She clearly knows her merchandise and how to engage her clientele in charming conversation while being a consummate professional. A perfect manager for the boutique as she is so petite and adorable she can actually wear the shoes from the store!

It’s nice to see that some people do get it! Point made.
